Do your candles contain essential oils?

No. We use high-quality fragrance oils in all our products- never essential oils.  Fragrance oils allow us to produce consistent, complex scented candles, melts and diffusers that are safe for home use and are stable in these products.  While essential oils can sound more 'natural', some are actually toxic when burned or diffused for long periods.  We carefully select out fragrance oils to be non-toxic, vegan and cruelty-free, ensuring a beautiful scent experience that's safe for you and your home.

Are your products handmade?

Yes- every item is poured, labelled, and packed by hand in small batches to ensure quality and care.

What are Wilderness Brae Candles made from?

Our candles are hand-poured in Scotland using 100% natural soy wax, premium fragrance oils, and cotton wicks.  Soy wax is a renewable, biodegradable material that burns cleanly and evenly - without the toxins or soot often found in paraffin candles commonly found in supermarkets and discount stores.

What does Wilderness Brae mean?

Wilderness Brae is a woodland area very near to where the founder, Karen lives in Cumbernauld, Central Scotland which inspired the name of the business.

"Brae" is a Scottish word for hillside.  Our name reflects the beauty and stillness of the Scottish wilderness - the feeling we hope our fragranced products bring into your home.
